Book Title: A Court of Thorns and Roses
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Series: A Court of Thorns and Roses #1
Release Date: May 2015

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

Perfect for fans of Kristin Cashore and George R. R. Martin, this first book in a sexy and action-packed new series is impossible to put down!

Once again I find myself captivated by an enthralling fantasy world created by the wonderful Sarah J. Maas.

In A Court of Thorns and Roses, we open with our heroine Feyre, who has been tasked with the care and protection of her family after the loss of her father’s wealth and subsequent disability. It is after hunting in the woods one-day and unknowingly killing a wolf that happens to be a High Fae, that Feyre is drawn into a world of magic, mystery, romance, tragedy, and danger.

The first part of the book is dedicated to world building and the growing relationship between Feyre and her captor/protector, Tamlin. It is during this time that we learn of the haunting past between the humans and faeries and the precarious arrangement that they have kept for the past hundred years. As well as the blight that has befallen Prythian, the Fae realm, since severing ties with the humans, and which seems to be getting worse everyday that goes by.

It is the seeds that are set in the first two thirds of the story that build to the thrilling repercussion of all these events, wherein Feyre, with the help of Tamlin’s most trusted ally Lucien and unsuspecting savior Rhysand, must save Tamlin and the Fae realm.

I’m so thrilled that this will be a series, because I am by no means ready to say goodbye to this new world from Sarah J. Maas! To me this book really had the perfect mixture of adventure and romance (because let’s face it, I’m a romatic at heart) to keep me on the edge of my seat and unable to put the book down. The ending was everything I could have asked for, and I can’t wait to see where book two takes us!

What I’m hoping for in book two…

Without revealing too many spoilers, I really hope to go a little deeper into Lucien’s character as I really came to love him throughout the book and hope we see even more of him in the next book. And of course, Rhysand, the dark anti-hero that is slowly winning my heart… I need more of you. Like now.

FINAL RATING: Five out of Five Stars
